Rebels Warn EU Ban To Hurt Peace Negotiations
Jacob Cherian - All Headline News Contributor Colombo, Sri Lanka (AHN) - Sri Lanka's Tamil Tiger rebels warned that a European Union ban that would freeze their assets would interfere with the island's peace process. However, they said they remained committed to a truce, according to Reuters. The 25-nation union listed the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam as a banned terrorist organization. The Tigers had said earlier that a ban would deter them from returning to talks aimed at permanently ending a two-decade civil war.
