Grenade Kills 3 Children In Colombia

Bogota,Colombia (AHN) - Three children in Colombia are killed on their way home from school when a grenade they pick up explodes.

Reuters reports two brothers, aged 12 and 10, and their cousin were killed in the explosion.

The blast also injured a 7-year-old girl.

The children were playing with the grenade in the Antioquia district west of Bogota when it went off.

The government says more people were killed or maimed by land mines in 2005 than anywhere else in the world.

It attributes the rise in mine injuries to rebels who plant the devices in order to protect their drug crops.
