Colchester, England (AHN) A British soldier on trial for the killing a 15-year-old Iraqi who drowned after allegedly being forced in a canal was found not guilty of manslaughter by a military judge on Thursday. Vice Judge Advocate General Michael Hunter did not give a reason for clearing Lance Cpl. James Cooke, 22, of the Irish Guards. Three other soldiers are still on trial for the death of Ahmad Jabbar Kareem, who drowned in the Shatt al-Basra canal in Basra in May 2003. Prosecutors alleged the soldiers threw Kareem and three other suspected looters into the canal to "teach them a lesson."
