Bangkok, Thailand (AHN) Thailand is battling with one of the worst floods the country has seen in years, with over 30 people confirmed dead and 100 people missing in its northern region. Heavy rains beginning on Monday have so far affected more than 70,000 villagers in Uttaradit, Phrae, Nan, Lampang, Pitsanuloke and Sukhothai provinces. The Thai daily Matichon says medical treatment for victims has been hampered, because hospitals have been cut off by flooded roads. Other reports indicate thousands of passengers, including foreigners, have been stranded at a railway station, unable to travel due to rising flood waters and extensive damage to the track. Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra has traveled to the devastated region, pledging military support and aid.
