Srinagar, India (AHN) - Even as India's Prime Minister begins talks in Srinagar, a grenade attack has injured four people. The Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is meeting pro-India political leaders at the start of a two-day visit. PMs visit is opposed by militants and separatist groups who have also called a strike in protest against it. On Tuesday, a suicide bomber attacked a bus injuring 22 security personnel. The BBC reports that the shops and businesses are shut in Srinagar in response to the strike call. Singh met military commanders and security officials to review the situation in the state before his roundtable talks with Kashmiri political leaders. India and its neighboring country Pakistan both lay claim to Kashmir in its totality and have fought two wars over the disputed region. Despite peace talks between the two countries which began in 2004, no progress has been made on the controversial issue.
