Huge Fire Engulfs Istanbul Airport, 3 Injured

Istanbul, Turkey (AHN) - A gigantic fire has engulfed part of Istanbuls Ataturk Airport, injuring three people but not causing major air traffic delays, Turkish officials said. Istanbul's deputy governor Fikret Kasapogru told Turkeys NTV that fire which broke out in the cargo section of countrys largest airport was believed to be caused by miswiring of electrical systems. A transport ministry official said that the situation was under control and that flights would continue. Thousands of people were forced to flee after the blaze broke out at 3:30 p.m. (1230 GMT). A witness told NTV that it was unclear whether anyone remained in the cargo area.
