U.S. Ambassador Calls On Bangladesh Environment Minister

Dhaka, Bangladesh (AHN) - U.S. Ambassador to Bangladesh Patricia A Boutenis called on Forest and Environment Minister of Bangladesh Tariqul Islam at his office in Dhaka on Sunday. During the meeting, they discussed on different issues relating to environment including forestation and eco-tourism, official sources said. The Minister mentioned about several programs of the government for a forestation, environment and eco-tourism. US ambassador expressed her deep appreciation for the government's programs in this important sector. The USAID, Bangladesh is assisting with money and technical support in a project in five different areas of Bangladesh. Under this project, local people were encouraged to look after the forest through providing job facilities for their livelihood. Apart from this, United States also helping to develop and expand tropical forest across the country.
