Amsterdam, Netherlands (AHN) - Dutch police have arrested an acquaintance of Joran van der Sloot, who was once a focus of the investigation into last year's disappearance of Alabama teenager Natalee Holloway. That's according to the suspect's attorney. Gerard Sponge says his client, who hasn't been identified, is suspected of "assisting in the murder'' of the Alabama high school senior. Holloway was 18 when she vanished last May 30th during a graduation trip to the Dutch Caribbean island with classmates. She was last seen leaving a bar with three young men. Dutch marines, the Aruban Coast Guard, the FBI and hundreds of volunteers have all searched the island and coastal areas of Aruba for Holloway, to no avail. Under Dutch law, police can hold a suspect for more than 100 days before filing charges. The arrest was the eighth in the case. The other people detained, including van der Sloot, have been released.
