Spain To Open Talks With ETA

Madrid, Spain (AHN) - Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero will open talks with the armed Basque separatist group, ETA. Mr. Zapatero says he will ask Parliament to "start of the process of dialog to achieve the end of violence with ETA." The Basque group declared a permanent ceasefire on March 22, after an armed and violent campaign lasting over 30 years. According to Spanish officials, the talks could begin as early as June.
