Baghdad, Iraq (AHN) - Iraqi Prime Minister, Nouri Maliki, says the country's first unity government since the fall of Saddam Hussein, is ready to take power. The prime minister designate will present his cabinet to the Parliament for approval, Saturday; only the defense and interior posts remain to be filled on a permanent basis. The three major voting blocs, Shias, Sunni Arabs, and Kurds, have been working on a government since elections in December, leaving many around the world wondering if such a unity coalition was capable of taking power. Mr Maliki announces, "We decided on the names of the ministers and we will announce them... except for interior and defense ministries." "Both will be acting ministers until we will choose the best ministers for those posts." However, Maliki assures Iraqis that the posts would be filled by politicians "well known as independents, honest, not loyal to any militia or the equivalent."
