Lightning Kills 4, Injures 12 In Bangladesh

Dhaka, Bangladesh (AHN) - Lightning struck four people to death and injured 12 others in four upazilas of the northern district Dinajpur in Bangladesh on Friday, a local news agency reported. Of the deceased, three were identified as Nur Nabi, 27, of Sundarban village in Sadar upazila, Nur Islam, 25, of Kanaibari village in Birol upazila and Manikchandra of Khansama upazila, while another in Chirirbandar upazila was yet to be identified. Four of the injured -- Riazul, Dipchandra, Milon and Jewel --were admitted to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital in critical condition, the United News of Bangladesh (UNB) reported. A pair of buffalo also died in Birol upazila when struck by lightning during rainfall with gusty wind that swept through Sadar, Birol, Khansama and Chirirbandar upazilas of the district at about 11:30 am (local time).
