Kabul, Afghanistan (AHN) - Afghanistan has seen one of its bloodiest days since 2001, as hundreds of insurgents attacked a southern town and violence flared across the country. Official reports say up to 105 people have been killed in violence across the country, in a series of battles, bombings and attacks. The battles were all in the volatile south and came weeks before NATO-led peacekeepers are due to take over operations in the troubled region at the end of July. Meanwhile, two suicide bombs also rocked the insurgency-hit country, one in western Afghanistan killed a U.S. anti-narcotics adviser, while a civilian died in the other further south.
