Britain Mourns More Deaths In Iraq

Basra, Iraq (AHN) - Two British soldiers were killed, and another injured late Sunday night in a roadside bomb attack in southern Iraq. The soldiers were on patrol in an armored Land Rover near Basra when the blast occurred. The soldiers all hailed from the 2nd Battalion Royal Anglian Regiment but have not yet been named. British Defense secretary Des Browne says, My deepest sympathies and thoughts are with their families and friends at this very difficult time.' The wounded were rushed to a military hospital at Shaibah Logistics Base using a British military helicopter. The recent deaths come on the heels of last weeks helicopter crash in Basra, which killed five soldiers, including the first British servicewoman to die in action. According to reports, the number of British military deaths in Iraq has now reached 111.
