Court-Martial Ensues In Marine Murder Case    Updated:25 September 2006
Three marines will face courts-martial after allegedly killing an Iraqi man and then attempting to make it look like he was trying to kill them. Hashim Ibrahim Awad, 52, was killed in April. The men are charged with taking Awad from his home and fatally shooting him. Then they allegedly planted an AK-47 and a shovel near his body.

Philippines And Australia Closer To Military Pact    Updated:25 September 2006
A military pact between the Philippines and Australia which will bring forth joint war games between the two countries' armed forces, is expected to be concluded soon. The Philippine government has tapped the services of over 100 out-of-school-youths to clean up and patrol coastlines and riverbank in Navotas City, Philippines north of the capital Manila, in an effort to declog waterways and prevent flooding. Chief Supt. Leopoldo Bataoil, district director of the Philippine National Police - Northern Police District Command, and proponent of the project Out of School Youth Towards Economic Recovery or Oyster, said the program will provide temporary jobs to these OSYs and at the same time help prevent flooding in the coastline city of Navotas.

Female Soldier Wounded In Palestinian Rocket Attack    Updated:26 September 2006
Two rockets fired by Palestinian terrorists slammed into crowded downtown Sderot in Israel's southern Negev region Monday morning, moderately wounding a female soldier. The victim was rushed to Barzilai Hospital in the nearby coastal city of Ashkelon. She was listed in moderate condition after suffering shrapnel wounds to her body. Several other people were treated for anxiety following the attack.

Soldiers Catch Terrorist Planting Bomb In Baghdad    Updated:26 September 2006
U.S. soldiers caught a would-be bomber as he was planting an improvised explosive device (IED) in Baghdad. Soldiers from 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, say the man tried to place a bomb in the southwestern part of the city, a little after noon. He was apprehended without incident, and the bomb was taken into custody.
