Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero will open talks with the armed Basque separatist group, ETA. Mr. Zapatero says he will ask Parliament to "start of the process of dialog to achieve the end of violence with ETA."

Chinese rescue ships have saved 330 Vietnamese fisherman during the powerful Typhoon Chanchu. In what state-media is calling "the largest international rescue operation at sea ever conducted by China," vessels have been searching for more than 40 hours to rescue fisherman from 22 boats caught in the storm.

Suicide Attack Kills 13 in Restaurant    Updated:21 May 2006

13 People were killed and 17 more were injured when a suicide bomber blew himself up at a restaurant in downtown Baghdad that is frequented by the police.

According to Police Col. Abbas Mohammed, three of the dead were police officers. The explosion erupted at about 1:20pm when the restaurant would have been packed for lunch.
