Egypt, U.S. Call On Syria To Close Hamas Offices    Updated:30 June 2006

The United States is calling on Syria to close the offices of Hamas, a group many consider a terror organization, which has been accused of facilitating the kidnapping of an Israeli soldier, which has led to a major military incursion into the Gaza strip. According to reports, Egypt's President Mubarak has demanded Hamas be expelled from Syria, and Deputy Spokesman for the U.S. Department of State, Adam Ereli, says Syrian support for Hamas "needs to end."
